Skillbar

ShelterProcession of Blades, Bane Signet, Test of FaithFeel my Wrath!

Test of Faith

is a very situational skill and can be swapped out any time. It does good damage if you position yourself correctly. Make sure you stand max melee and use the trap, so the outer ring of Test of Faith will spawn inside of the bosses' hitbox. If your group is really desperate for CC you can save it for breakbars. All traps do 100 breakbar damage since they daze for 1/4 seconds.

Shelter

We recommend using Shelter for most fights since it's a good heal and it blocks incoming damage for 2 seconds. Especially the block can be a life-saver!

Another useful heal is Purification

The self heal of the trap is good if you trigger it. It is also a nice CC option since it does 100 breakbar damage. Also during fights like Xera the trap can blind adds!

Fragments of Faith

This trap does slightly more damage than Test of Faith without positiong the outer ring

Dragon's Maw / Feel my Wrath!

Dragon's Maw does around 500 dps. It gives you 10 stacks of might for 8 seconds which is not too bad. It applies slow and pulls enemies, so it is very usefull for CC! But after the latest patch (October 18, 2016) we recommend using Feel my Wrath! The additional quickness and fury helps your Mesmer keeping up quickness. Also Mesmer have the opportunity to run Gravity well or Polymorph Moa adds even more CC than Dragon's Maw!

Wall of Reflection

Wall is useful at Matthias. With good alacrity uptime (which you will have in a 5-5 subgroup setup with double Mesmer) your Wall of Reflection will be ready for every bubble. Also you can use wall at Slothasor to reflect the projectils of the slublings.

Stand Your Ground!

This skill is useful during the Escort event. Stability helps against the mob's endless CC abilities.

However  Procession of Blades and Bane Signet is a must have!

Profession Skills

Spear of Justice activates your Big Game Hunter trait, so you always want to synchronise it with your Procession of Blades. It's also a pull if activated twice.

Wings of Resolve is a  good burst heal to keep up scholar. It also removes conditions. It can be used as a gap closer too

Shield of Courage grants aegis to your group. It is really helpful to block incoming damage!

 Weapon Skills

Hammer

Banish is a launch (750) so it's pretty useful for CC and seeker control at Vale Guardian.

Ring of Warding creates a ring which knocks foes. If you place it in a bosses' hitbox it does 150 breakbar damage. It's nice for seeker control at Vale Guardian.

 Greatsword

Binding Blade / Pull is useful during the Trio and the Escort event. It has good cleave and you can pull adds constanly

Shield

Shield of Absorption creates a dome that pushes foes back. This skill is really useful during the escort event, when capturing the towers. Combined with a druid's pushing glyph you can use your shield to knock the Mobs out of the ring and instantly capture the tower.

Torch

Cleansing Flame is a good condition cleanse for fights that have high condition pressure like Matthias or Slothasor.

Traits

Zeal (233), Honor (232), Dragonhunter (123)

 Pure Hammer Guardian

Hammer Guardian is still good for small hitboxes and groups that are unexperienced / uncoordinated, since it offers good support such as protection and a small but permanent heal! In addition it also adds more CC than scepter / sword build.

Vale Guardian

As a Guardian, you can help with the seeker control. Banish gives you the ability to knock the seeker away and followed by a Zealot's Embrace you can immobilize it so the seeker takes longer to come back. In addition a well placed Ring of Warding can stop a seeker reaching your group. For CC in general we would recommend banish only. If your Raid squad struggles with CC you can use Bane Signet in addition.

Slothasor

Wall of Reflection helps at Slothasor quite a lot. You can protect your Raid squad from slublings by a well placed Wall of Reflection. You can swap it out for Test of Faith since this skill does not do a lot of damage. However you do not want to swap out Procession of Blades ever. Another helpful trick is shelter during his "spores attack". If you position your self in the middle of Slothasor's hitbox and jump, you will block some of his "spores". The same works with  your F3 Shield of Courage. For CC we would recommend Banish and Ring of Warding. If you really lack CC in the end, you can always use bane signet too.

Matthias

Having a Guardian at Matthias provides protection to your group but especially to your subgroup which is helpful for squishies like Elementalist or other light armor classes. You can run Wall of Reflection but I would recommend Mesmer for the reflect part. Guardian can easily get screwed over by having the poison / getting knocked and placing the Wall in time. Furhtermore you can run Retreat! instead of Test of Faith for blocking the expanding circles that start at 60% of Matthias's HP. You are also able to block the circles with Shelter and Shield of Courage. When Matthias enters his abomination form at 40% you can block the Fear with the skills I mentioned too. Banish + Zealot's Embrace are the skills you want to use for CC. If it gets really close, feel free to Bane Signet too.

Keep Construct

For KC a Guardian makes the Core managment so much easier. With Banish you can instant knock the Core into a Rift. After some other classes helped push the Core, Guardian has it's F1 Spear of Justice, to pull the Core into another rift immediatly. With good coordination Guardian + Mesmer can manage the Core really easy and do all 5 Rifts in a short period of time. During the burn phase Guardian provides a small but permanent heal to keep up scholar. In terms of CC we would always recommend to use Bane Signet and Zealot's Embrace. Make sure that you do not use Banish or F1 for CC, otherwise it will not be ready for pushing the Core!

Torch

Cleansing Flame is a good condition cleanse for fights that have high condition pressure like Matthias or Slothasor.

Traits

Zeal (233), Radiance (221), Dragonhunter (123)

With the Minor Trait "Renewed Justice" in Radiance your F1 (Spear of Justice) reset it's cooldown. That allows you to have a better uptime of Big Game Hunter which will end up in a dps increase. However make sure it's always ready for your Procession of BladesIt works at Sabetha, Slothasor, Bandit Trio and the Escort.

Scepter + Sword / Torch Guardian

This rotation is optimal for bosses with small or medium sized hitboxes such as Vale Guardian, Sabetha, Matthias and Xera. However, we recommend using the Hammer build on Xera since it cleaves better and also does better damage. Protection on Xera is also very useful!

 Scepter / Torch Guardian

You can camp Scepter on bosses with big hitboxes such as Gorseval, Slothasor and Keep Construct. However, we still recommend using sword for an opening burst (Symbol of Blades). You should also swap to sword and use Symbol of Blades when bosses are about to phase for an additional burst!

Slothasor

If you lack projectile defensive skills you can replace Test of Faith with Wall of Reflection. Make sure you place your wall in a good spot to reflect the projectils since Slothasor is constantly moving! Your role here is a pure DPS, try to swap between Scepter and Sword before and after Slothasor phases. He phases at 80% 60% 40% 20% and 10%. In addition if you group is struggling with CC, you can help out with Bane Signet, Spear of Justice (F1) and your heal skill Purification. However for Slothasor I recommend Shelter as heal skill since it is really helpful blocking spores or the poison fields if you have to bring out Volatile Poison. Furthermore you can help cleansing conditions with Cleansing Flame (Torch 5) and block the fear after his CC with Shield of Courage (F3).

Sabetha

On Sabetha, Guardian deals good damage and brings some utility such as fury and cannon duty.

You have to becareful with sword 2 (Symbol of Blades). It blinks you onto the boss and that can be deadly if Sabetha has her flamewall up. Also Guardian can help out clearing out flame turrets while Karde is up. Another point to consider that Guardian can go up to the cannons. You can leap with your  F2 (Wings of Resolve) onto the launch pad. Furthermore, Guardian can help taking pressure of the group with well timed F3 (Shield of Courage). At good point to use it is when Karde is up and Sabetha returns.
